Okay, now I need to ask... while thinking of a fan character -of shame- I realized something...
Xipe Totec doesn't just take some cues from the Raven, over-deity and guardian, and her namesake.
... There's a certain Hummingbird of the South... with a Fire Snake acting as his spear. That scythe... axe... I don't know which it is, but it gives off, to me, the vibe of a serpent. And that hummingbird's themes were of the sun and fire...
Also, finally got the other theme. She's also the Red Tezcatlipoca, correct? Another aspect of her namesake? Now it makes sense to me why the ooze was segregated as the "Black Tezcatlipoca" by Icky instead of just Tezcatlipoca.
I've never known so much and so little about Native American and Aztec mythos until looking at your work. Be proud!
Lol. Well, until I realized themes, first I thought my fan character could be a jaguar... until I realized the identity of the blackness, and even using the alternate identity "Tepeyollotli" as a spotted feline seemed cheap. Then hummingbird... only to realize Lady Murder has that covered, even if not the Blue Tezcatlipoca.
Perhaps your series is just one that should have a vocal fandom without any spin-off and stand-alone characters to celebrate it. No recursive things, as it were.
A shame, because I pictured Huitzilopochtli as a complete mama's boy. A seven-foot-tall, ruby-throated mama's boy and complete mute.
This looks absolutely amazing! I cannot wait to read this. the animations are stunning as well, and the characters have such distinct personalities. Will you be doing character sheets on them if you haven't already? And perhaps a pronunciation guide as well. *nervous chuckle*
I am making a phonetic pronunciation guide as well as saying all the harder names in a coming "commonly asked questions"vlog. My job put a bit of a slow down on things (they need me more during summer). but I'm hoping to get those up toward the end of August, beginning September.
